Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known by her stage name of Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to become a member of J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. The first album she released from the label on October 21 2016 titled Pho where she started to gain recognition. Her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet in 2012, when she released her first mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. The singer continued uploading her music online in 2014 and released her own single Bound. Her music was also featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes which was released in Sweat It Out on the 21st of July, 2015. The following year, her music circulated around the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some references for Rihanna. The 8th of December was the day she revealed that she was contracted to Dreamville Records. The singer appeared on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II featuring the track Backseat Cozz. In October 21, 2016, she dropped her debut EP titled Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change song, and performed on her own tour, the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018 she went on to appear in two songs featuring her labelmates EarthGang with Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. On July 16 2018 Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video, which was released on September 5. Then, in November, she released singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. Then, on November 13 she dropped two more singles called One and Pdigree. One as well as Pdigree. Then she appeared to the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on the track Shea Butter Baby on November 16th. She released the single on February 26, 2019, to accompany her debut album with the same name. A music video was released on the 20th of February to accompany the track. Within one week, it had over 3,000,000 views. She was the opening act for 6LACK on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
